This family of lavenders is usually grown as an aromatic ornamental shrub or hedge. It is well suited to the upper North Island climate and can be seen in many gardens around the Auckland area. The name ‘dentata’ meaning toothed is derived from the serrated leaf edges. The flower spikes have a cluster of short tufts (sterile bracts) around the top third
