Title
Kākā
Description
Kākā at one of the nectar feeding stations at Zealandia this morning. Kākā are endemic to New Zealand and the population is estimated at fewer than 10,000/Nationally vulnerable. They are Forest birds that obtain all of their food from trees, consuming seeds, fruit, nectar, sap, and tree- dwelling, especially wood-boring invertebrates. Forest clearance has destroyed all but a fraction of the Kākā’s former habitat but are commonly seen in the Wellington green belt.
