A beautiful pair of our iconic fungi. The only fungi to have found it's way on to a banknote. The Maori name for these blue beauties is Werewere Kokako. Legend has it that the Kokako would rub its wattles on the blue fungi which produced the beautiful blue they sport. These fungi are found mostly around the Bay of Plenty and West Coast of the South Island but have been found in many parts of NZ. Fruiting from late Summer through Autumn.
